"Hereditary" new horror from A24
If you like supernatural thrillers then "Hereditary" might be the film for you. Being released by A24 (The Witch, Green Room, and It Comes at Night) and recently screened at this year's Sundance Film Festival. This film has created quite a bit of talk.
Critics of the film are saying that writer-director Ari Aster is influenced by some of the horror classics of our time such as "Rosemary's Baby" and "The Shining".
Starring Toni Collette, Gabriel Byrne, Alex Wolff, Milly Shapiro and Ann Dowd.
Here's a description of the plot from the film's website:
"When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter's family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell."
With no release date set for 2018 just yet, and no official trailer, here's the official movie poster to tide you over.
